Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA)
The RCIA is the process that prepares and initiates people into the Catholic Church through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Communion. This process also helps those baptized in another Christian community to come into full communion with the Roman Catholic Church. Baptized Catholics who have not yet received First Holy Communion and Confirmation are also normally prepared as part of this process.

RCIA is always open! You are always welcome to inquire at any time of the year.

Do you have questions about the Catholic Faith and are not Catholic?

Are you a Christian who wants to learn more about Catholicism?

Have you never been baptized and would like to be?

Are you an adult Catholic who has never received First Holy Communion?

If you answer yes to any of these questions...

Contact us by filling out an Inquiry Form or Contact  Neil and Stacy Phillips (RCIA Coordinators) at (209) 541-8903 or e-mail: rcia@saintjosephs-modesto.org

Parish School of Religion (PSR) for grades 1 through 12
Starting in 1st grade PSR educates and helps children and teen to develop and live the faith as they mature towards adulthood.  This program includes sacramental preparation for Baptism, Confession, First Holy Communion and Confirmation. But it provides more than this.  It provides the support parents need as they raise their children in the faith throughout their childhood.

School of Faith
As a part of the Sacramental Preparation of students in the PSR program, one of the student's parents or guardians must attend a monthly class on the basics of our Catholic Faith.  These classes are offered in both Spanish and English.

  • 7 Steps to Financial Freedom group bible studies - A Catholic bible study that aims at helping Christians put their 'financial house' in order and encourages and challenges them to experience more intimate fellowship with Jesus Christ, his church, and fellow Catholics.
  • Watch & Pray (Lenten Bible Study) - Watch and Pray includes discussion questions on the Sunday Readings and focus on a theme of prayer.  Each 'neighborhood' group meets in a host's home weekly during Lent.  Materials are provided at no charge.  Registration starts 2 weeks before Ash Wednesday.
